On Friday, it was shared by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, that the lead in implementing PMAY-U has been taken by his government. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban mission was started for providing housing to a big number of people in the urban areas. Andhra Pradesh has launched a unique drive for offering house sites to as many as 30.75 lakh people who seem to be eligible for the same across this state.
PMAY-U Holds Special Significance for Andhra Pradesh
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy during the ceremony for laying the foundation stone of LHPs or Light House Projects. Under the GHTC-India or Global Housing Technology Challenge-India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also established the Light House Projects’ foundation stone. The ceremony was further enlightened by the presence of the Chief Ministers of Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, and Madhya Pradesh.
At this occasion, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh added that housing for everyone has been envisioned by the honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The vision should be seen in full force by the year 2022. The year 2022 will be a remarkable year as India will reach seventy-five years of independence. Also, this project is of particular significance to Andhra Pradesh. This is one of the states that has been vulnerable to cyclones, floods, and other such natural disasters.
The housing program being extremely important to Andhra Pradesh, the distribution of at least 68,677 acres of land has been done among families. It is further believed that Light House Projects will be built at Lucknow, Rajkot, Indore, Agartala, Ranchi, and Chennai. Each location is expected to have at least 1,000 houses.
