Jagan Mohan Reddy Laying Foundations for 3 Reservoirs for Providing Water to Anantapur

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has initiated the foundations for at least three reservoirs. These foundations were established on Wednesday. Being a part of the Upper Pennar Project, administering this step has been important. This project aims to offer irrigation water in an area of 75,000 acres. Drinking water will also be provided to multiple villages lying in the Anantapur district. Since this district has been affected by drought, this project will be really beneficial.

Goals to be Achieved by Laying these Three Reservoirs

Titled as Dr YSR Upper Pennar Project, it is expected to see three reservoirs. These will be established in Devarakonda, Muttala, and Thopudurthi. The pylon of the programme in which the foundation was laid was revealed by the CM of Andhra Pradesh. This was done from the Tadepalli’s office camp with the help of a virtual link.

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy shared that three reservoirs will be established for satisfying the irrigation requirements of 75,000 acres. Also, drinking water requirements will be looked after as a part of the project. The CM of Andhra Pradesh further added that with the help of Handri – Neeva Sujala Sravanthi or HNSS, irrigation water will be provided to at least 6.03 lack acres. Further, at least 33 lakh people will be supplied with drinking water.

According to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the cost for the reservoirs was sanctioned 24th January 2018, however, the work wasn’t taken up. In 3 years, the cost of the project was expected to increase. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government has managed to widen this project’s scope and increased two more reservoirs. These reservoirs will come with 3.3 TMC added capacity and that too at the same cost. This also proves how corruption can be limited.

In Essence

By introducing irrigation and drinking water solutions, the Upper Pennar Project will prove to be very advantageous. Especially for the drought-hit areas, this project is nothing less than a ray of hope. We believe that this project will be much acknowledged by all.
